RANDOLPH- Josephine Lois Glidden, 70, died Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta. She was born in Southwest Harbor on August 17, 1936, the daughter of the late Joseph D.L. Fougere and Hilda M. Sprague. Josephine was raised on Cranberry Island. It was there that she received most of her education, eventually graduating from high school in South Carolina. She married Neil C. Glidden in Augusta on December 15, 1956. She became employed with the State of Maine in several capacities for the next 25 years, retiring after serving the last twelve years in the Maine Legislative Research Office. Josephine enjoyed gardening, ceramics, playing bingo and traveling. She was predeceased by her husband, Neil, a brother, Roland Sprague, and a sister, Estelle Robinson. Josephine is survived by her companion, Cliff Page of Randolph; her son, Daniel N. Glidden of Gardiner; her daughter, Diane F. Sinclair & her husband, Ken, of Phoenix, AZ; a brother, Mike Lowe of Freeport; two sisters, Charlene Smith of Foley, Alabama and Linda Wentworth; four grandchildren, Ryan Sinclair ASAF stationed in Japan, Jason Sinclair USN stationed in Georgia, and Joel and Eva Glidden of Gardiner; two great grandchildren, Brooke and Ashlyn Sinclair; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to visit from Noon ? 2:00 pm on Friday, July 13, at Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home, One Church St., Augusta where a celebration of Josephine?s life will be held the same day after the visitation at 2:00 pm. Committal services and interment will be held graveside at 10:00am on Monday, July 16 at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta.
