WINTHROP - Judith R. McCroary, 71, of Winthrop, died Wednesday April 11, 2007 at her home. She was born in Portland October 24, 1935 the daughter of Roland and Mary (McDonald) Shipley. She was a graduate of St. Joseph?s Academy in Portland, the College of St. Elizabeth?s, convent Station, NJ and got her Master?s in Library Science from Rutgers University. Judith was a devoted wife and mother and put much energy into raising her family. She loved literature and music and had a deep and abiding faith in her church. She enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of the Stanley Road Runners. Mrs. McCroary was predeceased by two sons, James T. McCroary and Patrick Michael McCroary. She is survived by her husband, James McCroary; three sons, Matthew Shipley McCroary and his wife, Sara, of St. Louis, MO, Maj. Stephen Peter McCroary and his wife, Kathie, of Brookfield, Ill, and David Christopher McCroary and his wife, Yenni, of Fayetteville, NC; two daughters, Katherine Sara McCroary Jay and her husband, Kevin, of New York and Margaret Elizabeth McCroary, of Portland; her brother, John Shipley and his wife, Carolyn, of Malden, MA; grandchildren, Charles, Claire, James, Stephen, Katie, Sean, Elisabeth, Dennis, Judy, Victoria, Christopher, and Kevin McCroary and Brendan Jay, and a nephew, John Paul Shipley. Relatives and friends are invited to visit at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin Street, Winthrop Sunday 3 to 5 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 2:00pm at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Winthrop, the Reverend Brian Blanchette, celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude?s Children?s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
