AUGUSTA - Latena Elizabeth 'Betty' Mudge, 89, of Macomber Avenue died on Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, at Augusta Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Sidney on Jan. 14, 1915, the daughter of Perley and Ida (Smith) Haskell. Betty worked in the treasury department at Central Maine Power Co., Wadleigh's, Emerson Shoe and Augusta General Hospital. Betty enjoyed painting, paperhanging and fixing up her home. She also liked knitting, crocheting, sewing, attending fairs and dog and horse racing. She was predeceased by her husband, George G. Mudge, who passed away on Sept. 17, 1991, after 57 years of marriage; and three sisters, Ruby Rideout, Margaret Holt and Stella Quincy. She is survived by one sister, Sylvia Black; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her dearest friend, Walter Ware. A graveside service will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday in the Father LeClair Memorial Chapel at the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta. Arrangements are in the care of Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta.
