Leon L Bryant Obituary (1962 - 2019)

Winthrop-Leon L. Bryant, Jr., 56, passed Saturday, January 12, 2019 gently and peacefully through the splintered sunlight and into the arms of God, with his loving family by his side. He was also known as Dad, Pops, Grampa, Old Guy, Little Lee, Sea Dog and Red Bone. After a brief illness, he experienced a cardiac arrest and died from natural causes at MMC with his hat on, listening to The Blues. Leon was born March 29, 1962 in Augusta the son of Leon and Judith (Rainey) Bryant. Leon cherished his children and grandchildren. He loved his family and he loved his friends. From the time he was a little boy he loved trucks. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver. He found great happiness in driving on the open road. He took pride in his CDL and keeping the back roads of Maine plowed. He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. He was passionate about nature, observed and embraced all the details of it, and he loved to share it with others. He often picked flowers for his Mother from the many gardens at home. Among his favorite things in life were the sunset, the moon and stars and the ocean. He loved music and dancing, especially the blues and The Grateful Dead. He loved to listen and join in with his harmonica during family jams. He took every opportunity to just sit and soak up the sun on his face and listen to the singing of the birds. He had an infectious sense of humor and was a fabulous story teller, which was no doubt passed down from his father. He was a kind, gentle, loving soul and he loved to make people laugh and smile. We are heartbroken and will miss him terribly. He was predeceased by Father Leon Bryant Sr., paternal grandparents Albion and Annie Bryant and maternal grandparents Lloyd Rainey, James and Evelyn Ranahan. He is survived by his children, Michael Randall and partner Lacey Barnies, Luke Randall and wife Liz Wakely Randall, and Kallie and Kassie Bryant; grandchildren, Lucas, Skye, Gabrielle, Uriah, Bentlee and Kayden; Mother Judith Rainey Bryant; siblings, Julee Morrissette, Jinny Bryant and partner Dick Hayford, Lloyd Bryant, Leslie Bryant and Jennifer Nadeau; brothers in law, Butch Nadeau and Bill Morrissette; his sons’ mother, Laurie Randall; special nieces and nephews who lovingly referred to him as Old Guy, Zach and his fiance, Emily, Casey, Sara and Joey Nadeau; many special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Leon had many wonderful lifelong friends and you know who you are! A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, January 18th at 4:00 pm at the Alfred W. Maxwell, Jr. American Legion Post #40 in Winthrop.
