Louise
Clough
d. Oct 14, 2007
MOUNT VERNON - Louise Marion Clough, 87, died at her home on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007. She was born in West Greenwich, R.I., on Sept. 30, 1920, the daughter of Albert and Marion (Denault) Hartman. Louise graduated from South Portland High School and, soon after, in 1940, she married Scott Blanchard Clough. They settled on Cottle Hill Road in Mount Vernon, where Louise and her neighbor, Lydia Pettengill, raised black angus on the L Bar L. Later, she worked at Augusta Mental Health Institute as a ward supervisor and as a scrub nurse in the operating room. In 1975, at the age of 53, Louise received her licensed practical nursing degree from the University of Maine at Augusta and chose to work in the area of regional home health. She was a dedicated and caring nurse who would often go the extra mile, continuing to care for her patients at the end of the day even after her shift was finished. She retired from nursing in 1988. Louise enjoyed her flower gardens and roses. She was loved, and will be dearly missed, by her family and all who knew her. A celebration of Louise's life will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18, at Dunn's Corner Baptist Church, Wings Mills Road, Mount Vernon, with the Rev. John Dunn officiating. A reception, also at the church, will immediately follow. A private burial will be held in East Readfield Cemetery. For those who wish, contributions in Louise's memory may be made to HealthReach Hospice, P.O. Box 828, Waterville, ME 04903-0828. Arrangements are in the care of Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop.
