Lucille Dostie Obituary (1933 - 2009)

WINTHROP - Lucille Dostie, 76, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Thayer Unit, Waterville. She was born in Winthrop on July 24, 1933, the daughter of Maurice and Marie (Cliche) Dostie. Lucille graduated from Winthrop High School and after, for a few years, went to work for the WFAU radio station. Upon leaving the radio station, she began working for George the Tailor in Winthrop, where she remained for the next 31 years. An extremely caring person who was very generous with her time, Lucille hardly ever passed up an opportunity to provide transportation to anyone in need of a ride home, or a trip shopping, or to give her help to anyone in any way they needed it. She had a collection of stamps and coins and was an avid fan of sports in general. She was a Patriots fan first and foremost, but enjoyed following most sporting events at Winthrop High School for most of her life. She was a lifelong member of St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church in Winthrop. A special thanks is extended to Joan Mayo for the love and compassion she exhibited while caring for Lucille over the last 10 years. Lucille is survived by her brother, Roland Dostie and his wife, Helen, of Ellsworth; along with several cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, Route 133, Winthrop. Spring burial will take place at Glenside Cemetery, Turkey Lane, Winthrop.
