Obituary

AUGUSTA - Mary C. Hagglund, 85, died Monday, June 16, 2008, at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation & Nursing Care at Glenridge, Augusta. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on March 7, 1923, a daughter of William and Theresa (Szigethy) Krucher. Mary had lived in Maine since 1982 at Chateau Cushnoc. During World War II, she worked at the Brooklyn Navy Yard folding parachutes for the paratroopers. She was a loving mother to her two children and wife to her husband, Martin. Mary worked to support her family and attended Our Holy Redeemer Church in Freeport, where her children were born. She was predeceased by her husband, Martin Hagglund; a sister, Rita Kutzing; and a brother, William Krucher. She is survived by a son, Michael Hagglund, of Seacliff, Long Island, N.Y.; a daughter, Marty Hagglund, of Farmingdale; two brothers, Stephen Krucher and Alex Krucher; a sister, Theresa Walker; and several nieces and nephews. She will be missed dearly. Visiting will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 20, at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Winthrop. Burial will be in Glenside Cemetery, Winthrop. www.khrfuneralhomes.com
