HALLOWELL - Miriam Weiss, 95, of Granite Hill Estates, formerly of Augusta, died Sunday, June 9, 2013 at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta. She was born in Boston, MA. on July 22, 1917 the daughter of Leonard and Dora (Libbin) Brittain. She was raised in Everett and Dorchester and graduated from Dorchester High School. She later graduated from Boston Clerical School and had worked in the hotel industry in New York City and Boston. Miriam was a loving wife, mother and sister. She enjoyed gardening and doing volunteer work for Temple Beth El, Augusta General, and other charitable organizations. She was a longtime member of Temple Beth El in Augusta. She was predeceased by her husband Dr. Samuel Weiss, a daughter Linda Manson and a brother Saul Brittain. She is survived by a son Marty L. Weiss of East Winthrop; a sister Annette Mattross of Newton, MA.; also several nieces and nephews. A private graveside service was held in Beth El Memorial Park in Portland.
