SIDNEY ? Mona Tanner Smith, 67, of Sidney, died Saturday, May 24, 2003, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, after a short illness. She was born in Augusta on March 31, 1936, the daughter of Orville W. and Grace Martha (Drummond) Tanner. Mona was self employed as an Avon Representative for more than 30 years. Ms. Smith was predeceased by a son, Gordon D. Smith, and a granddaughter, Melissa Ellen Smith. She is survived by a son, Brent S. Smith and his wife, Sharon, of Sidney; a daughter, Robin L. Smith, of Hallowell; and two grandchildren, James and Katherine, both of Sidney. There will be no public visitation or funeral service. A small graveside service for family and friends will be held at the Springer Cemetery in Sidney at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, One Church St., Augusta.
