Myrtle Patterson Obituary (1909 - 2001)

AUGUSTA ? Myrtle Rowe Patterson, 92, of Augusta, passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta. She was born in Vassalboro, Nov. 6, 1909, the daughter of Merton and Grace (Brown) Rowe. She and her husband, the late Albion Patterson, ran Patterson's Greenhouse in the 1940s and '50s. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Order of Eastern Star and Cushnoc Grange. In her spare time, Myrtle loved to knit and read. Myrtle lived by herself on Greybirch Drive until recently. She celebrated her 92nd birthday in November with family and friends. Mrs. Patterson was predeceased by her husband, Albion H. Patterson; her son, Albion M. Patterson, and daughters, Dorothy Creasey and Bernice Taber. She is survived by her daughter, Rachel A. Gary, of Winslow; sons, Mark Patterson, of Vero Beach, Fla., and David Patterson, and his wife, Martha, of Newport; a brother, Paul Rowe, of Augusta; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may visit from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home 1 Church St., Augusta, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Augusta.
