BELGRADE - Paul B. Stratton, 80, of West Road, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, at his home. He was born in Belgrade on Oct. 1, 1929, the son of Charles and Eula (Wallace) Stratton. He attended Belgrade Central School and had worked as a woodsman, logging with a team of horses. He later worked as a driver at Augusta Supply for 32 years, retiring at the age of 62. Paul was very family oriented. He was proud of his four sons and faithfully followed his grandchildren's activities. He enjoyed camping, going to the Big E (4H Horse Show), stock car racing, attending sporting events and going to fairs. He was predeceased by a son, Terry Stratton; four brothers, Wallace, Henry, Charles and Alpheus Stratton; and a sister, Irene Barrows. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Stratton of Belgrade; four sons, Pete Stratton and his wife, Sara, of Sidney, Charlie Stratton and his wife, Joi, of Belgrade, Hal Stratton and his wife, Gayle, of Belgrade and Scott Stratton and his partner, Lloyd, of Belgrade; four sisters, Eleanor Haney, Eula Barrows of Augusta, Georgie Gagne of Augusta and Fay Ouellette of Sidney; a brother, Dennis Stratton Sr. of Sidney; 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visiting will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Belgrade.
