HALLOWELL - Penelope A. 'Penny' Daley, 55, of Water Street died Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at her home. She was born in Waltham, Mass., on March 19, 1954, the daughter of Daniel and Phyllis (Noble) Daley Jr. Penny graduated from Erskine Academy in 1973. She had worked for Depositors Trust, state Bureau of Taxation and the Department of Special Education. She later worked with at-risk children in the Augusta school system and was co-founder and part-owner of Employment Support Services in Farmingdale, working with developmentally disabled clients. She also worked for HealthReach at Spruce Street Residence. Penny was a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous for more than 14 years, and had finally graduated with honors after having served as an inspiration to countless other recovering people. She also had a passion for reading and enjoyed traveling and taking cruises. But above all, she enjoyed the quiet moments spent at home with family and her four goofy cats. She was predeceased by her father, Daniel Daley Jr., in 1986. She is survived by her loving husband, Christopher Landreth, of Hallowell; her mother and stepfather, Phyllis Noble Tessman and her husband, Michael, of Augusta; two sons, Timothy Hamilton, of Portland, and Shawn Potter, of Augusta; three sisters, her twin sister, Peggy Daley Conway, and her husband, Frank, of Valley, Ala., and Barbara Daley Robidoux and her husband, Dick, of Candia, N.H., and Bett Daley and her husband, Michael Crotto, of Dover, N.H.; two stepsisters, Sharon Sekellick and her husband, Ron, of Collinsville, Conn., and Virginia Benning and her husband, John, of Conway, S.C.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. A celebration of Penny's life will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 18, at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta, followed by a reception and continuation of celebration at St. Mark's Church Hall, 9 Summer St., Augusta.
