Perry Sr. Obituary (1920 - 2002)

WEEKS MILLS ? Perry Lewis Jones Sr., 82, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta. He was born in Pittsfield, N.H., Feb. 13, 1920, the son of Harry and Martha (Lewis) Jones. Perry was a graduate of Cony High School, class of 1938. He married Ruth Higgins on Oct. 28, 1950. He was employed by Central Maine Power Co., until retiring in 1984 after 30 years of service. He was a 50-year member of Penney Memorial United Baptist Church in Augusta and for the last 16 years attended Augusta Baptist Church. Perry had a great imagination, and was a very creative man with a fondness for nature and the outdoors. He enjoyed hiking, reading and gardening. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a very close-knit family man and a loving husband, father and grandfather. His brother, Minot H. Jones predeceased him. He is survived by his wife of more than 52 years, Ruth Jones of Weeks Mills; his son, Perry Jr., and his wife, Linda, and their children, Cory, Ryan and Angela, all of North Arlington, N.J.; two daughters, Susette Greathouse, and her husband, David, and their children, Ruth, Jonathan, Anna, Stephen and Daniel, all of Ferndale, Md., and Nicolette Kilian, and her husband, Dale, and their children, Lydia, Joseph and Grace, all of Weeks Mills. Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27 at Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Augusta Baptist Church, North Belfast Ave., Augusta, with pastor Perry Jones Jr., of New Jersey, officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in the spring.
