WEST GARDINER ? Ray Wilder Pelton, 76, of West Gardiner went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at Maine Medical Center in Portland. He was born in Augusta, April 23, 1926, the son of Raymond and Marjorie (Gray) Pelton. Ray served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was discharged in 1947. He married Earlene Whitten on Nov. 20, 1948. He operated Ray's Body Shop in Manchester for more than 30 years. Mr. Pelton enjoyed flying his ultralight plane, camping, snowmobiling, fishing and hunting in his spare time. He was also a member of Penney Memorial United Baptist Church. Ray is survived by his wife, Earlene; his children, Donna R. Drolet and her husband, Andre, Gary W. Pelton and his wife, Cheryl, Daryl R. Pelton and his wife, Dalene, and Cathy L. Small and her husband, Timothy; two brothers, Donald Pelton and his wife, Patricia, and Robert Pelton and his wife, Marion; three sisters, Betty Tims and her husband, Cealand, Gerry Bryant and her husband, Leon, and Marie Baker and her husband, Donald; nine grandchildren, Raymond, Michael and Roger Drolet, Vicky, Troy, Jerry and Julie Pelton and Casie and Dustin Small; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may visit 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta. A committal service will be held at noon Wednesday at the new Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery Chapel, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
