WINTHROP - Raymond Arthur Newell, 84, died Sunday, August 6, 2006 at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation & Nursing Care, Graybirch Dr., Augusta. He was born in Industry, Maine on November 16, 1921, the son of Ralph and Eva Newell. During the course of his life, he delivered the newspaper for the Kennebec Journal and was also employed by Hillcrest Poultry, Stakinos, Bass Shoe Co. and Pineland. Everywhere Ray went or worked he always made friends. He enjoyed storytelling, playing lighthearted tricks on his friends, and going out to eat. He also liked playing card games, with his favorites being cribbage and solitaire. Ray loved people and the Lord and attended the Victory Baptist Church in Winthrop. He is survived by his friends and the families he lived with throughout his life, and they will all miss his warmhearted spirit. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 14th, in the new addition at Glenside Cemetery, Turkey Lane, Winthrop. Arrangements are in the care of Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop.
