AUGUSTA ? Rebecca C. 'Sunny' Falvey, 83, of Augusta, died at Maine Rehabilitation and Nursing Care at Gray Birch, Feb. 5, 2002. Sunny was born in Mechanicville, N.Y., April 19, 1918, the only child of Walter S. Cowan and Sarah McBride Cowan. She moved with her family to Albany, N.Y., in 1930 and graduated from Albany High School, class of 1936. She attended Albany Business College. She married Earl D. Williams and they moved to Elsmere, N.Y., where they built the home at 7 Brookman Ave. where she lived for 50 years. Her second husband, John Falvey, died in 1991. She moved to Gray Birch in Augusta in 2000. Sunny was a talented vocalist and sang in the Westminster Presbyterian Church Choir in Albany for 40 years. She often sang at community functions and, as a young woman, was active in community musical theater. She was a past matron of Onesquethaw Chapter 818 of the Order of Eastern Star and a former member of the Delmar Progress Club. She was an avid knitter, reader and poet, having published several poems and a volume of her poetry. She is survived by three children, Dixon T. Williams and his wife, Barbara, of Lansingburgh, N.Y., Bruce C. Williams and his wife, Susan, of Palermo, and Heather L. Williams of Kent, Wash.; two stepchildren, Denise Linstruth and her husband, Ray, and their son, Geoffrey, of Delmar, N.Y., and Michael Falvey and his wife, Jane, of Guilderland Center, N.Y. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jennifer Williams of Cohoes, N.Y., Melissa Williams of Wilkes Barre, Pa., Angelique, Douglas and Caitlin Williams of Augusta, and Mary and Karen Allen of Palermo; and two great-grandchildren, Drake Chase of Augusta, and Jackson Allen of Palermo. Adhering to Sunny's wishes there will be no calling hours. There will be a memorial service in her honor at 2 p.m. Feb. 16, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 262 State St., Albany, with Rev. Sandre Lee Hanna officiating. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations in her name be made to the Westminster Presbyterian Music Fund or to a Humane Society shelter of your choice.
