Richard
Leeman
Jun 1, 1945 — Apr 26, 2011
WINTHROP - Richard 'Dicky' Leeman, 65, passed away peacefully after a long illness April 26 at the VA Togus Medical Center, where he had been cared for with grace and respect. Dick was born on June 1, 1945, in Boothbay, to his mother Barbara Wylie Leeman, also of Boothbay, and Hollis Leeman Jr. of Woolwich. Dick grew up on Back Narrows Road in Boothbay. He served in the Navy on board the aircraft carrier USS Lexington CV16. He lived in Massachusetts for many years before settling in Winthrop, where he lived and worked as an independent insurance adjuster for the past 30 years. His passions were his family, hunting and fishing, and fast cars. His kind heart and generous spirit will live on in all of us and he will be missed. Dicky is survived by his two sons, Brenton Leeman, 30, of Winthrop, and Hunter Leeman and his wife, Claudette; and four grandchildren, Rebecca, 12, Gabrielle, 10, Faith, 8, and Justin Boucher, 24. He is also survived by his two previous wives, Billie Goldsmith, of Boothbay Harbor, and Debbie Leeman, of Bedford, Mass. Both were present with their love and support. His memory also lives on with his generous and loving sisters and brothers. Among them are Holly McFarland of Woolwich, Cheryl Kaplan of Wiscasset and Dave Chapman of Boothbay; and all of their children and grandchildren. There are also many close friends in the Augusta and Boothbay regions, too many to mention, who will miss him. Dick's life will be celebrated at a committal service with full military honors at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 5, at the new Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to VAVS, Togus VAVS, 1 VA Center, Augusta, ME 04330, for help toward volunteers helping veterans in their recreational activities. Arrangements are in the care of Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.khrfuneralhomes.com
