CHELSEA - Richard A. Vigue, 53, of Chelsea, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta on Aug. 26, 2010. Richard's death was a surprise to all of those that knew him. He was born on April 5, 1957, to Richard and Marie Vigue at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta. Richard was the oldest of four children and quite often referred to himself as the 'black sheep' of the family. Richard was employed by NRF Distributors, where he had worked for the last 24 years. Richard graduated with the class of 1975 from Cony High school in Augusta. He later joined the Army in 1982 and served for four years as an infantryman throughout Germany. Mr. Vigue was a loving father and brother to his family. Richard had a love for the outdoors and was an avid bass fisherman. Richard could be found quite often out on the lake trying to catch 'the big one.' Richard's love for the outdoors didn't stop with fishing. He also enjoyed bow hunting. Richard was predeceased by his father Richard Joseph Vigue. He is survived and sadly missed by his mother, Marie Vigue of Chelsea; daughter Rebecca and her husband, Roger Dow, of Biddeford; daughter Sarah Vigue of Gloucester, Mass.; son Jeremiah (Miah) and his wife, Ashli Vigue, of Connecticut, and son Samuel (Sammy) Vigue of Augusta; his grandchildren Aaron, Zoe and Aubergiene; two brothers, Fred Vigue and his wife, Emily, of Richmond, and Rodney Vigue of Augusta; one sister, April Knox and her fianc?, Andy Swan, of Windsor; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Relatives and friends may visit from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Services will be officiated by the Rev. Ryan Westbrook-Vigue. Burial, with military honors, will follow at the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
