Robert
Cyr
Jan 15, 1944 — Jul 18, 2006
AUGUSTA - Robert J. Cyr, Sr., 62, died late Tuesday evening, July 18, 2006 at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta. He was born in Waterville on January 15th, 1944, the son of Roland and Regina (Gigiere) Cyr. Bob graduated from Waterville High School and was employed by Nissen?s Baking Co. for over 30 years. Very generous with his time, Bob volunteered weekly at the soup kitchen in Waterville and, most recently, while being cared for at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation & Nursing Care @ Graybirch, was nominated as ?Man of the Wing? for helping and caring for other residents at the facility. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed, among other hobbies, bird watching and gardening. He also enjoyed painting and watching hours of Sci-Fi movies. Most important to him, however, was his love for his family and all the times they shared together. Bob was predeceased by his parents and his wife, Pamela (Mooney) Cyr. He is survived by his son and daughter, Robert Jr. and his wife, Lynn, and Shelley Colfer and her husband, Bruce, all of Augusta; two brothers, Don Cyr and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Florida and John Cyr and his wife, Pam, of Waterville; along with six grandchildren, Kristin, Miranda, Michael, Kevin, Scott and Karen. A memorial celebration of Bob?s life will be held graveside at 9:00am on Saturday, July 22, at St. Mary?s Cemetery on Route 202 in Manchester, with Rev. Ralph Boisvert celebrant. For those sending flowers, please have them delivered to Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home and Cremation Service, One Church St., Augusta by 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The family wishes to thank the staff at MaineGeneral Medical Center and MaineGeneral Rehab & Nursing Care @ Graybirch for all their compassion and support extended to Bob and his family during his illness. They would also like to thank all his family and friends, especially his close friend, Bob ?Dupe? Duplessis.
