WINTHROP - Robert C. Flagg, 88, of Winthrop, died Wednesday April 11, 2007 at the Maine Veterans Home in Augusta. He was born in Wilton July 19, 1918 the son of William and Mertie Belle (Buzzell) Flagg. He grew up in Winthrop and attended Winthrop schools. He served in World War II, stationed in Panama. Robert married Pauline Simmons October 24, 1941 in Winthrop Center. Mr. Flagg was a fifty year member and piano player for the Winthrop Grange. He was a member of the Odd Fellows, the Loyal Order of Moose and American Legion Post 40 in Winthrop. He enjoyed going on bus tours all over the country and Canada. He enjoyed his vegetable garden, trips to the ocean, fishing, playing music and was a great dancer. Robert is survived by his wife, of 65 years, Pauline; two daughters, Roberta Pauline Record, of Augusta and Rosalie Ann Worthing and her husband, William Jr. of Manchester; three grandchildren, William J. Worthing, III and his wife, Myrtle, Tammy Worthing Gregor and her husband, Dale, and Heidi Heather Record and three great-grandchildren, Amber Lynn Gregor and twins, Jeffrey and Rachelle Worthing, of Belgrade. A memorial service will be held at the Winthrop Center Friends Church Sunday at 2:00pm with the Reverend Maggie Edmondson officiating. Arrangements are in the care of Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin Street, Winthrop.
