MONMOUTH - Ruth Anne McNaughton, 36, of Monmouth, passed to the other side, Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, at Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn. She was born in Augusta on Feb. 2, 1974, the daughter of Edward L. and Doris Johan (Allen) McNaughton. A charismatic young woman, Ruth captured the hearts of the people she encountered with her engaging personality and sense of humor. Her zest for life, positive attitude and determination were redeeming qualities that enabled Ruth to live her life to the fullest with heart and lung disease. Ruth graduated from Hall-Dale High School in 1994. She looked forward to participating in Special Olympics Summer Games, the Equestrian Olympics and Bowling Olympics. She had a love for the Pine Tree Camp. She also loved music, and enjoyed dancing and being with friends. Ruth was predeceased by her sister, Jennifer, whom she looked forward to seeing again. She loved thunderstorms because she associated them with Jennifer having a party. She is survived by her father, Edward L. McNaughton, and her mother, Doris Johan Brown and step-parents, Katie McNaughton and James Brown, Jr.; her brothers, Mark Allen McNaughton and his wife, Tracy and their son, Brian and John E. McNaughton and his wife, Sarah and their children, Brittany, Zachary, Ian, and Mallory; her sister, Rebecca McNaughton and her children, Vaughn and Benjamin Fuller; her step-siblings, Stephanie Wiken, Jeremy Morang, Debra Ayotte, Tammy Greenleaf, and James L. Brown III; her special niece, Nicole McNaughton Wing, along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. A funeral service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 4 Hasson Street, Farmingdale, on Friday at 3 p.m. Ruth's family would like to thank all the staff at the Honeycomb House and Families Matter for the profound impact they had on her life.
