WINTHROP - Stenish Catherine Grover, 90, died Saturday, March 13, 2010, at her home in Winthrop. She was born in North Monmouth Oct. 29, 1919, the daughter of Jan and Julia (Piela) Slonina. Stenish was valedictorian of her graduating class at Winthrop High School. Following high school, she began employment with Wadsworth & Woodman, where she met and later married James Grover. They resided on the Annabessacook Road for many years. After Jim's passing during their first winter in Florida, Stenish maintained Spring Hill, Fla., as her seasonal home until returning to Winthrop permanently, just a few years ago. Stenish was predeceased by two brothers, Charles Leon Slonina and his wife, Corrine, and Boleslaw 'Brownie' Slonina; a sister, Stella Panek and her husband, Joseph; and a brother-in-law, Milford 'Bun' Hanson. She is survived by her sister, Helen Cecile Hanson; several nieces and nephews including Joseph Panek, Nancy Panek, Donna Fuller, Charles Slonina Jr., Julia Ann Frost, Theresa Scribner and Stephen Slonina; as well as several great-nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, Route 133, Winthrop. Burial will be later in the spring at Glenside Cemetery, Turkey Lane, Winthrop. Condolences to the family may expressed at www.khrfuneralhomes.com
