AUGUSTA ? Theodore E. Dale, 78, of Augusta died Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta. He was born in Gardiner on Sep. 7, 1924, the son of C. Elwood and Ruth (Fleming) Dale. Ted served in the Army during World War II, attaining the rank of corporal before his discharge in 1946. He worked in the local grocery business until 1971, when he went to work for Pine State Trading, retiring from there as a warehouse manager. Mr. Dale was one of the founders of the Augusta Junior Football League and was with the league until the late 1970s. He enjoyed summers at Popham Beach, refinishing furniture and gardening with his late wife. Ted was predeceased by his wife, Leatrice (Merrill) Dale. He is survived by a son, Timothy P. Dale and his wife, Jeanne, of Augusta; a daughter, Karen MacMillan and her husband, Ray, of Sidney; five grandchildren, Michelle Dale, Allyson MacMillan, Leslie Hustus, Maureen Chandler and Jessica Towle; and six great-grandchildren, Isaac Perry, Kara Chandler, Tia Chandler, David Towle, Jasmine Towle and Eliza Towle. There will be no visitation or services.
