BELGRADE ? Thomas C. McLean Jr., 83, of Belgrade went home to the Lord Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at Lakewood Nursing Home in Waterville. He was born in St. George, Oct. 22, 1919, the son of Thomas C. Sr. and Mildred (Page) McLean. He grew up in St. George and attended schools there. Thomas was a carpenter by trade and worked for the Carpenters Local 1996 as well as Peachey Brothers and Stewart and Williams. He retired in 1982 after building all over the state of Maine. Mr. McLean enjoyed fishing and gardening in his spare time. He had been a member of the Belgrade Bible Church since it's beginning and actually helped to construct the church. Thomas was predeceased by a sister, Violet Edwards, and a granddaughter, Christine Booth. He is survived by his wife, Roseline (Bucklin) McLean; a son, Curtis Arey and his wife, Jeanine, of Lewiston; two daughters, Karen House and her husband, Richard, of Sanford, and Patricia Bewell and her husband, William, of West Enfield; a brother, Holman McLean and his wife, Jenny, of Damariscotta; his sister, Evangeline Johnson and her husband, Louis, of Thomaston; five grandchildren, Richard Bewell, Craig Arey, Richard House, Kathy Savage and Corina House, along with six great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Belgrade Bible Church, Route 27, Belgrade, with the Rev. Lawrence Wiles officiating. Spring burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Belgrade. Memorial donations may be made to the Belgrade Bible Church, Route 27, Belgrade 04917.
