Aaron was born in Millinocket, Maine, on November 21, 1941, and spent his life in Readfield. After graduating from Kents Hill School and University of Maine at Orono, he returned home where he began to build the family dairy at Snakebridge Farm on Readfield's North Road, which
had been his grandparents'. His love of the land and the dairy sustained him and his family until 1998, when he retired following the ice storm that deeply affected the region.
He was an active member at First Church of Christ, Scientist, Augusta, and his church family was an important part of his life for many years.
In retirement, his passion for walking shone through as he thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail, which he completed end-to-end twice, in addition to the shorter section hikes he and his children walked at various times while on vacation from daily life on the dairy farm. He met many people and made many lifelong friends across the miles.
No funeral services will be held in accordance with Aaron's wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Appalachian Trail Conservancy or to the American Chestnut Foundation in Aaron's honor.
Arrangements are in the care of the Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St. Winthrop, where condolences, memories, and photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the website at http://www.familyfirstfuneralhomes.com.
