Obituary

Written by CPL Alvah E. Donnell "I have gone onto my new journey on February 23, 2025. I was born on January 21, 1956 in Augusta, Me. to Alvah E Donnell Sr. and Dorothy (Betts) Donnell Tisdale. I was raised in Gardiner and graduated class of 1974. I was a member of the Sharples Drill team from 1967-1970 and served in the U.S. Army from 1974- 1978. I was currently a member of the American Legion Post#40 in Winthrop, Me. and 1st Vice for District 9 American Legion, member of the ME. Veteran cemeteries for the State of ME. and serving as commander for the Kennebec County Veteran's Honor Guard. I served on the Pittston Fire Department for 24 years and served on several town boards while living in the town of Pittston. I am predeceased by both parents, and stepfather Arthur Tisdale, Sr., stepsister Diane Bryant, sister Joanne and son Alvah E. Donnell III, and lifelong Army buddy, Roland Price. I am survived by my wife Patricia A. Donnell of 45 years, and by four beautiful children, Una Purvis (Dan) of Carmel, Ivy Donnell of Milo, Angela Donnell (Bob) of Belgrade and a son James Donnell (Kelly) of Farmingdale. Nephews, William Price (Amy S) of Anson, Charles Price (Amy B) of Emden, siblings, Alice Zawadzki, Ben Tisdale, Alan Tisdale, Wilson Donnell, Sharon John, Hugh, Joel, and Richard. I am also survived by my wonderful and beautiful grandson Kendall Paquette, who meant the world to me. As well as my grandchildren and great grandchildren." Al's graveside service will be held at the Maine Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Blue Star Avenue, Augusta on Thursday, March 6th at 12 noon. A celebration of life will follow immediately after at the American Legion Post 40, Winthrop from 1-4pm. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Kennebec County Veterans Honor Guard, 815 Manchester Road, Belgrade, Maine 04917.
