AUGUSTA- Anne D. Downes, 85, of East Northport, N.Y., and Wayne, died Jan. 11, 2010, at her home in New York. Anne was a registered nurse, beginning her career at the Brooklyn Eye and Ear Hospital in New York City and retiring as a school nurse and nurse educator at the Northport-East Northport School Department, in New York. She leaves behind three sons, Terry Downes and his wife, Sue, Dennis Downes and his wife, Christine and Kevin Downes and his wife, Phyllis; her grandchildren, Stacey Charest and her husband, Mark, Dennis Downes and his wife, Jennifer, Terry Downes Jr., Jennifer Webb and her husband, Steve, Theresa Tazwell and her husband, Jarred, and Kirstie Downes; and three great-grandchildren, Zoe Anne Charest, Hayden Downes, and Remmington Webb. A celebration of Anne's life will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta. A graveside service will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Manchester. Refreshments and lunch will be served at 265 South Belfast Ave. in Augusta, following the graveside service.
