Obituary

WINTHROP - Arthur E. Tyler, 69, of Winthrop died on Thursday, May 20, 2004, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta after a brief illness. He was born in Wilton on Jan. 6, 1935, the son of Harold E. and Ethel F. (Lathrop) Tyler. He received his education in Farmington, graduating with the class of 1953, and went on to serve in the Air Force from Sept. 21, 1953, to July 2, 1957. After 30 years of employment with International Paper, he retired in September 1997. Art enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved to spend time with his family and grandchildren. He loved his hobby being a photographer and had many pictures, especially of his grandchildren. He could be found daily walking or bicycling the rail trail with his companion, Gerry. There wasn't a day he wouldn't find something to do with his partner, soul mate and the love of his life, Gerry Frost. Art was predeceased by his parents; a stepmother, Violet Tyler; and his brother, Kenneth Tyler. He is survived by his companion and snuggle bunny, Gerry Frost, of Manchester; his three daughters, Mindy Keith and her husband, Mark, of Standish, Tatia Lewis of Portland, and Torie Gendron and her husband, Mike, also of Portland; one brother, Calvin Tyler and his wife, Monty, of Wilton; a sister, Marion Hinds and her husband, Richard, of Belgrade Lakes; a half brother and a half sister, Glenwood Tyler and his wife, Priscilla, of Strong, and Noella Davis of Wilton; eight grandchildren, Casey, Jenny, Ally and Nathan Lewis, Grace Govan, Matthew and Mitchell Keith, and Kyle Gendron. Relatives and friends are invited to visit noon-1 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop, where a celebration of his life will follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Raymond Anderson officiating. Burial will be held in Readfield Corner Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
