Obituary

VASSALBORO - Barbara R. Davenport, 80, of Vassalboro died Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at Shore Village in Rockland. She had lived at Gables Manor in Vassalboro for the last 15 years. She was born Jan. 14, 1926, in Bath, the daughter of Thomas and Jenny (Blaisdell) Trainor. She grew up in Bath and was married to William F. Davenport on Sept. 5, 1952. Barbara was a full-time mother, spending many years raising her children. She was kind- hearted and was a good cook. She was known for her ability to make delicious blueberry muffins without measuring any ingredients. She loved to play bingo and then give away her winnings. Barbara enjoyed crocheting and loved candy. Mrs. Davenport was predeceased by her husband, William Davenport Sr., and three sons, David, Thomas and Daniel. She is survived by her sons, William Davenport, Jr. of Chelsea and Howard Davenport of Augusta; her daughters, Florence Harrelson of Warren and Flora Peyton of Denver; three sisters, Ann Trainor of Georgetown, Arlene Baumhauser and her husband, Bill, of Evansville, Ind., and Theresa DiConzo and her companion, John Capponi, of Mexico; two grandchildren, Christina Geroux and her husband, Lester, and Julie Harrelson; and two great-grandchildren, Felicia Gove and Jennessa Geroux. There will not be any visiting hours. A graveside service will be held at the Whitefield Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta.
