READFIELD - Barbara M. Hillier, 84, of Main Street,died Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta. She was born in Bath on May 11, 1925, the daughter of Chester and Ellen (Lorentsen) King. Barbara graduated from Morse High School in Bath and, later, from the Portland School of Nursing. She had worked as a registered nurse at the Veterans Affairs Hospital at Togus and retired from Augusta General Hospital, now MaineGeneral Medical Center, in the mid-1970s. She was a member of Torsey Memorial United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir. She had many interests, including quilting, flower gardening, watching and feeding the birds, going to flea markets, bingo and antiquing. She was a registered dealer at Lakeside Antiques in East Winthrop. In her earlier years, Barbara was Den Mother for Cub Scout Pack 450 in Readfield. She enjoyed eating lobsters and spending time with family and friends at their camp on Brighams Cove in Phippsburg. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Gordon Hillier, of Readfield; two sons, Chester G. Hillier and his wife, Ginger, of Monmouth, and James E. Hillier and his wife, Debora, of Brunswick; a sister, Eleanor McKinnon, of Bath; five grandchildren, Jonathan, Daniel, Kaitlin, Benjamin and Troy; also three nieces, Gloria, Donna and Phyllis. Visiting will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 11, at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop, where a celebration of life at 11 a.m. will follow the visiting. The Rev.
