Readfield - Barbara Louise Lord, 84, passed away peacefully at her home on October 21, 2023. She was born in Portland on September 13, 1939, the third child of Joseph and Edith Hamlin. She was educated in the Sebago schools and graduated from Potter Academy in 1957. She married her husband John on October 4, 1958 and they soon after moved to Readfield to begin their life together. She worked for the State of Maine Bureau of Human Resources for 25 years before retiring. Barbara was an avid reader who enjoyed many hobbies over her lifetime. She is survived by her husband John; son Preston and his wife Ann; daughter Debra and her husband Larry; and daughter Kimberly and her husband Nate; five grandchildren, Stacy (Autumn), Morgan (Jason), Tom (Kendall), Sarah (Matt) and Katie; and eight great-grandchildren, Chad, Ryan, Kole, Teagan, Ben, Henry, Cal and Sebastian; sisters-in-law Sylvia, Mary and Josephine (Jo), brother-in-law Herb and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and two siblings, Robert and Joanne. At Barbara's request there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Readfield Community Library, 1151 Main Street, Readfield ME 04355.
