So. China- Barry C.B. Blackinton, 61, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at home with his loving wife at his side. He is the devoted husband of Jodi (Ellis) Blackinton with whom he shared 36 years of marriage.
Barry was born in Cranston, Rhode Island on August 28, 1961. He is the son of the late Walter and Edna (Profrock) Blackinton. He was a graduate of Pilgrim High School Class of 1979. Barry has resided in So. China for the past 7 years and previously resided in Rhode Island.
He was a United States Navy veteran, he held the rank of ASM 3 and served on the USS Nimitz.
Barry was a small engine mechanic and worked for Bryan's Lawn Mower Service for many years until having to retire due to ill health.
Barry took great pride in taking care of his wife Jodi. He also enjoyed being a homebody and puttering around his home. He loved doing yard work, cutting the grass, snow blowing and enjoyed listening to music. He was an avid New England sports fan and especially was a Patriots fan. He was a former member of the American Legion Post 43 in Rhode Island.
In addition to his loving and dedicated wife Jodi, Barry is survived by his son Barry C.B. Blackinton, II and his wife Kexuan of No. Carolina, his granddaughter Bethany Blackinton and his devoted dog the late Miles. He is also survived by a niece and nephew.
In addition to his mother and father, Barry is predeceased by his siblings Bruce Blackinton, Beth Lourenco and Bonnie O'Keefe.
Barry's Graveside Service with Military Honors will be at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Road, Augusta on Friday May 19, 2023, at 1:00 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
