Hallowell, Maine ~ Bernadette “Bernie” F. Salois, 84, formerly of Shrewsbury, MA died Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta, Maine. Bernie was born in Millbury, MA October 28, 1932, the daughter of Joseph and Delora (Bleau) Foster. Bernie was a resident of Millbury for 56 years. She was a member of the Assumption Church and volunteered at Assumption Grammar School in the library, guild shop and lunch program. Bernie was an avid golfer who was a long time member of Whitinsville C.C. She enjoyed reading, knitting and playing bridge. She was employed for 15 years by Morgan Construction and resided in Shrewsbury, MA for the last 29 years where she became a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Bernie took great pride in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bernadette is survived by three sons; Stephen Salois and his wife Beth of Winthrop, Maine; Robert Salois and his wife Maribeth of Surry, Maine and Paul Salois and his wife Cristina of Whitfield, Maine; a daughter Jayne Kackley and her husband Mark of Charleton, MA; her 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; several nieces and a nephew. Bernie was predeceased by her parents, her brothers; Gerard and Robert Foster; sister Jeannette Reilly and her grandson Joshua Salois. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, September 30 from 9 to 10:30 AM at Chiampa Funeral Home, 5 Church Road Shrewsbury, MA. A celebration of life will follow at 11 AM at St. Mary’s Church, 640 Main St, Shrewsbury, MA. Burial will be at St. Philip Cemetery, Grafton MA. In lieu of flowers, donations maybe made to the Dementia Society of America (www.dementiasociety.org/donate or the Shrewsbury Senior Citizen’s Center.
