Obituary

Bradford Winthrop Davis, 76, passed away on August 1, 2025, in Manchester, Maine. Born on November 12, 1948, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Brad lived a life defined by mechanical mastery, deep devotion to family, and a passion for all things with wheels or wings (especially chicken). A proud and meticulous mechanic, Brad took immense pride in diagnosing and fixing vehicles right the first time. His hands were rarely idle—whether under the hood of a car or fine-tuning one of his many motorcycles or hotrods. Over the years, he owned more than 100 cars and trucks, over 50 motorcycles, and even piloted three planes logging over 2000 hours. His love for machines was matched only by his dedication to understanding them inside and out. Brad's talents extended beyond engines. He was an accomplished woodworker who crafted canoes and kayaks with care and precision. He also found joy in playing guitar, cultivating bonsai trees, scuba diving, and flying remote-controlled planes. These hobbies reflected his curiosity and creativity—qualities that enriched every corner of his life. In addition to his mechanical pursuits, Brad was known throughout his neighborhood for the thousands of hours he spent mowing lawns on his trusty Husqvarna. It wasn't just about keeping grass trimmed—it was about lending a hand where it was needed most. Though Brad carried a tough exterior befitting a lifelong motorhead, those closest to him knew the depth of his kindness and thoughtfulness. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Margaret; his son Jim and his "son" Chico; daughter Heather; son-in-law Jesse; grandchildren Alex and his family, Sam, and Nick; brother Wayne; sister Wendy; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved "son," Pepper. He was predeceased by his father Winthrop, mother Doris, brother Brian, and sister Claudia. Per Brad's request, a gathering in his honor will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Brad's memory to the Kennebec Valley Humane Society or PALS—organizations that reflect the compassion he quietly carried throughout his life. May Bradford Winthrop Davis be remembered with gratitude by all who knew him—for the engines he brought roaring back to life and the quiet strength he shared with those around him. Arrangements and guidance are in the care of Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin Street, Winthrop, Maine. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the Roberts Funeral Home website, www.khrfuneralhomes.com
