AUGUSTA ~ Carolyn (Savage) Conklin died at Maine General in Augusta surrounded by her loving family on Friday March 18 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. Carol was born in Nashua, NH on December 19, 1942 the daughter of Harland and Thelma (Gray) Savage Sr. She grew up in Wilton, NH and later in Concord until moving to Naples, FL where she eventually retired until she relocated to be closer to her daughter here in Maine in 2009. Carol is a retired deputy from the Collier County Sheriff’s Department in Florida and enjoyed the fellowship she found in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Rebekah’s Lodge both in NH and Maine. She loved to travel, pamper her Pom Bentley, and spend time with her family. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Kauppi) Jellison and husband Jamie; her beloved granddaughter, Kendra (Young) Robinson and wife Porsha; brother, Ralph Savage and wife Maryanne of Bonita Springs, FL; Sister in law, Pam Savage; nieces, Leah and Sarah; nephews, Matthew and Seth. She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence Kauppi; parents, Harland and Thelma Savage Sr and brother, Harland Savage Jr. There will be no funeral in Maine at this time; the family will have a memorial at a later date in New Hampshire. Grandma God looked around His garden and found an empty space. Then He looked down upon this earth and saw your tired face. He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest. God’s garden must be beautiful, He only takes the best.
