AUGUSTA - Catherine W. Kittredge, 88, of Brookside Drive died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, at Augusta Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center. She was born in Providence, R.I., on April 17, 1919, the daughter of Francis and Mary (Warburton) Ward. Catherine was a graduate of Bridge Academy in Dresden. She had worked at Kennebec Pulp and Paper Co. and Bath Iron Works, and retired as an administrative secretary from Statler Tissue. She was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church and a lifetime member of Alfred Maxwell American Legion Post 40 Auxiliary in Winthrop. After her retirement, Catherine was primarily a homemaker who cared for her husband, Scott. They both enjoyed playing cribbage together. She was predeceased by her husband, Scott Kittredge, in 2001; her parents; her stepfather, Arthur Pushard; and two brothers, Francis 'Red' Ward and Fred Ward. She is survived by nieces Janice Graves and Judy Ward, both of Winthrop; nephews Rick Ward, of Chelsea, and Fred Ward and Robert Ward, both of Memphis, Tenn.; a cousin, Nancy Desisto of Pittston; two sisters-in-law, Ida Ward of Winthrop and Avis Ward of Memphis, Tenn.; and several other cousins, great-nieces and nephews. Visiting will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1 Church St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Augusta. Burial will be at a later date in Mount Hope Cemetery.
