SOUTH CHINA ? Charlene H. Elliott, 82, formerly of Augusta, passed away Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care, Glenridge Drive, Augusta, after a long illness. Charlene was born in Augusta, July 7, 1920, the daughter of John B. and Arda (Fairfield) Brown. She was a graduate of Cony High School and Gates Business School. Charlene was employed by the state of Maine, Martin Law Firm and then Sanborn, Moreshed, Shade and Dawson until she retired in 1986. Charlene loved to go to lawn sales, sew and play cards. She will be sadly missed by all who loved her. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Millard Elliott of South China; a son, Robert M. Elliott and his wife, Cyndee Palmieri; four grandchildren, Jocelyn Booker, Keith Wilde, Mikel Booker and Chad French; three great-grandchildren, Nikolas Sandelier, Mikayla French and Chalbi French; a sister, Pauline Wing; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no visiting hours and the funeral service will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care, 40 Glenridge Drive, Augusta 04330. Arrangements are in the care of Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home, Augusta.
