MONMOUTH- Charles M. "Chuck" Shaw, Jr., 67, passed away Friday July 8, 2022, at Androscoggin Hospice House with his family at his side. He was the husband of Teresa (Wing) Shaw with whom he shared 39 years of marriage.
Chuck was born March 30, 1955, in Bangor. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles M. "Mel" and Ann (Rogers) Shaw. He attended John Bapst Memorial High School in Bangor, served in the U.S. Navy, and later went on to graduate from Bangor Community College with his degree in Law Enforcement.
Chuck served many Maine communities during his 30+ years in Law Enforcement. He was a patrolman for Ellsworth and Hampden, and served as Police Chief for Stonington, Eastport and Monmouth. After retiring, Chuck taught Law Enforcement at Lakes Region High School in Naples and Narraguagus High School in Hancock County.
He was a proud Navy veteran and a long-time Service Officer at the Monmouth American Legion Post 204. He will be remembered for his tireless service to community and country. His quick smile, sharp wit and ever-present sense of humor have left an enduring imprint on the hearts of many. Chuck treasured time spent fishing, watching his grandchildren play sports, and every minute spent with his family.
In addition to his loving wife Teresa, Chuck is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Terri-Lynn and Jerod Bechard of Sabattus and his son and daughter-in-law Chip and Nikki Shaw of Winthrop. He was a doting (often gushing) grandfather to Reese Shaw and Evan and Kody Bechard. He is predeceased by his brother-in-law Troy Wing of Hampden and survived by his sister Anne Marie Shaw of Bangor and his nieces and nephew.
