WINTHROP- It is with very heavy hearts that the family shares the passing of Charley Walter Hayford on July 2, 2023.
He was born at the family home on Highland Avenue in Winthrop on August 7, 1965 to Earl and Agnes Hayford.
Charley graduated from Winthrop High School in 1983. He graduated from Bangor Vocational Technical Institute in the HVAC program and from Kennebec Valley Technical Institute in the Alternative Energy and Electrical programs.
He worked at Bath Iron Works as a Tinsmith for many years where he developed many wonderful friendships.
Charley loved life, had a smile that could light up a room and a great laugh. He loved the outdoors, camping, cooking and watching the Red Sox and the Patriots. But most of all he loved his family and friends. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post #40 and The Winthrop Grange.
He is survived by his siblings; Bob and Jamie Hayford, Dick Hayford and Jinny Bryant, Kathy and Dave Willman and Karen Tibbetts, his nieces and nephews Jodie (Jack), Erin (Adam), Brian (Ashley), Eric (Lisa) and Erika, his great niece Summer and great nephew Felix, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Charley follows his parents and his younger brother, Glenn Hayford, who predeceased him. Charley is gone from our sights but will live forever in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Glenn Hayford Memorial Scholarship in care of Dick Hayford and Jinny Bryant, 301 Memorial Drive Winthrop, Maine 04364.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life for Charley at The American Legion, Post #40, Bowdoin Street, Winthrop, on Wednesday July 12th from 12:00-3:00PM.
