AUGUSTA - Charlotte R. Porter, 89, of Augusta, died Sunday Aug. 20, 2006, at the Maine Veterans Home in Augusta. Mrs. Porter was born in Augusta Sept. 27, 1916, the daughter of Thomas and Delia (Church) Randall. She grew up in Augusta and was a 1935 graduate of Cony High School. She worked for the State Highway Department for several years before becoming a mother. Charlotte was a wonderful seamstress and enjoyed making clothing for her family. She also had a garden for many years and canned her own vegetables. She attended the Augusta Church of the Nazarene. Charlotte was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Porter in 1962. She is survived by her son, Norman McKenney, of Augusta; her daughter, Iola Santerre and her husband, James, of Kennebunk; her brother, Donald Randall and his wife, Ida, of Augusta; her sister, Doris Boyle and her husband, Arthur, of Florida; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Relatives and friends may visit at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, One Church Street in Augusta Tuesday 10:30 to noon with a funeral service at noon. Burial will follow at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Augusta.
