AUGUSTA- Cheryle M. Owen, 81, passed away at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta on August 14, 2025. She was born in Portland on April 08, 1944, to the late Carl and Carrie (Doughty) Horne. Cheryle attended schools in Portland and graduated from Deering High School. Following high school, she married John Peter Owen and stayed home to raise her two boys, Peter and Paul. Cheryle started working at St. Mary's Catholic School in the cafeteria before serving as the Document Room Supervisor for the Maine State Legislature in 2009. She deeply enjoyed time spent in the sun and warm weather. She loved her home and the sunset views from her kitchen and her summer porch. She also enjoyed cooking and baking apple pies. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband John Peter Owen and two sisters, Sylvia Klett and Roberta Kimball. She is survived by her sons, Peter and his friend, Carolyn Allen of Augusta and Paul and his wife, Lynn of Gardiner. Her dearly loved granddaughter, Katy of Pittston, and her beloved friend Susan Carey and William "Buck" Bachelor of Augusta, who were close to her heart. As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Cheryle's graveside service will be held on Saturday August 30th at 11AM at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Augusta. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
