WINTHROP - Christopher William Wicks, 25, died from injuries suffered in an automobile accident on Nov. 21, 2005, in Port St. Lucie, Fla. Christopher was born on Sept. 18, 1980, in Waterville, the son of Wayne and Julie (Guerette) Wicks. He grew up in Wiscasset and was educated in Wiscasset schools, graduating from Wiscasset High School in 1999 with high honors. He was the recipient of many awards, including the Hugh O'Brien Leadership Award, of which he was especially proud. He was an accomplished writer and was a member of The Associated Press. At the age of 16 he had his own column in the Wiscasset newspaper. Also as a teenager, Christopher spent countless hours coaching and refereeing in the youth leagues in Wiscasset. He truly loved working with the area youth. Chris was a standout athlete in his own right. In high school, he played baseball, soccer and basketball. After high school, he turned down a minor-league contract with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays to accept a scholarship to play Division I baseball at St. Joseph's College in Pennsylvania. Chris graduated from St. Joe's in 2005. At the time of his death, Chris had his own music production company. He was a gifted writer and was currently working on an album of his own hip-hop music under the stage name 'Prolifik.' Some of Chris' music can be heard at http://www.vakseen.com. Christopher touched many people with the gifts of his friendship and loyalty during his short time on this Earth; this is the legacy he leaves to those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed by his parents, Wayne and Julie Wicks of Port St. Lucie; his brother and best friend, Matthew Wicks, and special uncle Larry Guerette, both of Nashua, N.H.; his grandparents, Harold Wicks of Sidney, Phyllis Mazzota-Wicks of Augusta, Lawrence Guerette of Winthrop and Gail Guerette of Winthrop; his great-grandmother, Lila Lincoln of Winthrop; his uncles, Mark Wicks of Readfield and Dick Guerette of Winthrop and their families; his aunts, Tara Wicks of Readfield and Trina Wicks-Patnaude of Concord, N.H., and their families; many cousins and extended family; and many, many friends. Relatives and friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop. A memorial Mass of Christian burial and celebration of Christopher's life will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Lake Street, Winthrop. A private burial will be held in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Wayne.
