MANCHESTER - Clyde A. Webb, 83, of Prescott Rd. Manchester, Maine, passed away peacefully at home on October 29, 2026, surrounded by family.
He was born on May 25, 1943, in Augusta, Maine, to Frank and Doris Webb, the fourth of nine children.
Clyde grew up on the family farm in North Manchester. He attended the one room schoolhouse in town, before graduating from Cony High School in Augusta in 1961. He received a scholarship to attend UMO where he continued his education before going on to serve in the National Guard.
Throughout his life Clyde worked as a woodsman, logger and farmer.
During the 1980s he volunteered with the Kennebec County Cooperative Extension service. In the early 2000s he served as a Selectman for the Town of Manchester. He devoted many years to scouting, serving as a Cub Scout Den Leader and a Boy Scout Leader. He was incredibly proud that all three sons achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
Clyde loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and bringing diet Pepsi wherever he went. Some of his most cherished times were spent in the North Maine Woods with his sons. The woods were a place where memories were made, and a love of the outdoors was shared across generations.
Over the years, Clyde, Sylvia, and the kids enjoyed many trips together traveling throughout the US and Canada. One of their most memorable adventures included a six-week cross-country trip with their family of five in a pickup camper.
Following his retirement, Clyde continued to enjoy traveling, making trips to Alberta, Canada. Some trips with his wife, Sylvia, to visit family, others were spent hunting with his sons.
Clyde was predeceased by his parents, his sisters Louise and Barbara, his brothers Brad and Stan. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sylvia. Their children, Bethany Welch, husband Carl, their children Jessica, Susan, Nicole, Gaven, and Logan. Eben Webb and wife Debora. Nathan Webb, wife Shevenell, and their children Lily and Duncan. Stephen Webb, wife Jennifer, and their children Remington, Shyanne, and Brayleigh. Clyde is also survived by his brothers Walter, Charles and wife Elaine, and his sisters Susan Maxim, Marion Tourtelotte, and sister-in-law Marilyn. As well as many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements and guidance are in the care of Staple Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, Maine. All are welcome to join the family for a celebration of Clyde’s life at the Manchester Lion’s Club, on November 13, from 3 - 6 pm.
