Obituary

Clyde Harrison Williams, a proud lifelong Mainer, was born in Caribou, Maine, on July 9, 1945, the son of Lois Webber Williams and Clyde E. Williams. He passed away on April 23, 2026, at his home in Hallowell. Clyde lived many years in Mount Vernon, graduated from Farmington High School, Class of 1963, worked two summers for the Maine Highway Commission while attending the University of Maine, followed by almost 6 years at International Paper Company. In February 1966, he joined the Maine Army National Guard at Augusta, where he served with the 152d Maintenance Company meritoriously for 38 years, retiring as Chief Warrant Officer 4. In October 1971, he began his career as a Military Technician in the heavy equipment repair shop at Camp Keyes, where he remained for 31 years, serving as a supervisor for the final 17 years, all while completing his education at UMA. While living in Wayne for over a decade, Clyde served on the Wayne Volunteer Fire Department, primarily as a truck captain, and on the committee to establish the Adult Ed program at the relatively new Maranacook Community School. He then lived many years in Hallowell, taking great pride in maintaining his home and property. He enjoyed playing golf and later exploring the Maine coast in his power cabin cruiser. While his heart was in Maine, he traveled to many U.S. states and four foreign countries with the National Guard. He also took great pleasure in many wonderful trips with his wife, Cathy, to locations around the country and the Eastern Provinces of Canada, for which Clyde was the travel agent extraordinaire, planning flights, routes, and accommodations with precision. Clyde is survived by his loving wife, Catherine Williams, his sisters Cynthia (Noel) Pelliccia, Barbara (Kevin) Hoehn, Patricia (William) Flewelling, Margaret (Terrance Knowles) Williams, Beverly (Paul) Olson, Norma Williams, and his brothers Alan (Donna) Williams, Joel Williams, and Daniel (Angelique) Williams. Clyde is also survived by several nieces and nephews, four stepchildren and their families, and three sisters-in-law. Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde E. & Lois Williams; two sisters, Martha and Lois; his niece, Wendy; his grandniece, Jasmine; and three nephews, Troy, Luke, and Jack Burial will be at the Maine Veterans' Cemetery, 129 Blue Star Ave, Augusta, ME, on June 2, at noon.
