Obituary

Cobey Carlton Schmidt, 52, of Vassalboro, was taken from his family unexpectedly in an ATV accident on May 8. Cobey was a hard-working man known for his loyalty, strong work ethic, and unforgettable dark sense of humor that could make people laugh even during difficult times. Cobey worked for McCormick Building Supply and Androscoggin Fence Company, where he was respected by coworkers and customers alike for his dedication and willingness to help others. Above all else, Cobey loved his family. He enjoyed teaching his children sports and took pride in sharing his love of golf with them. Some of the memories his family will cherish most of all are the time spent together laughing, learning, and enjoying the game he loved. He is survived by his loving wife, Crystal, his children, Richard and Catharine, his mother Carleen, his father Erlon, and his brothers, Lawrence, Jamie and wife Tammy, Randy, and Corey and wife Cheryl. He is preceded by his grandparents, Frank and Frances Schmidt, and Lawrence and Florence Kaherl. He also leaves behind many friends, extended family members, and all those whose lives were made brighter by his humor and presence. Cobey will be remembered for his quick wit, his stubborn strength, and the way he could always find humor in life's challenges. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him. A graveside gathering will be held on May 23 at 1 PM at the cemetery located at 30 Record Rd. in Livermore Falls. A celebration of life will be held on June 13 from 2 to 6 PM at the American Legion Post 40 in Winthrop. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate Cobey's life.
