BELGRADE - Constance T. Tompkins, 69, of Belgrade, died Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at her home. She was born in Augusta, Jan. 21, 1941, the daughter of Roland and Yvonne (Miville) Trott. Constance was a 1959 graduate of Cony High School and went to work for New England Telephone shortly afterward. She left when her son was born and returned to the workforce with Central Maine Power. She worked for CMP for more than 28 years, retiring in 1995. Mrs. Tompkins enjoyed crafts, knitting, camping, and traveling to Mohegan Sun and Hollywood Slots. She followed NASCAR and was a big fan of Jimmie Johnson and always enjoyed a good lobster. Constance is survived by her husband, Jeffery Tompkins; her mother, Yvonne Trott; her son, Brian Tompkins and his partner, Paul Soule, of Augusta; three brothers, Roland Trott and his companion, Cheryl, of New Boston, N.H., Donald Trott, of Augusta, and Vaughn 'Pete' Trott and his wife, Marie, of Franklin, N.H.; and two sisters, Bonnie Grover and her husband, Jim, of Augusta and Sonya Freeman and her husband, Dick, of Vassalboro. Relatives and friends may visit with the family 6-8 p.m. Friday at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta.
