Craig Steven Camenga passed away on July 13th, 2026, after a sudden and brief hospitalization.

He went peacefully surrounded by family and music that he loved.

Craig was born on March 13th, 1960, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, to Mary Ruth Tilton and David Leroy Camenga. He was the first of 3 brothers: David Lloyd Camenga and James Kenneth Camenga.

Growing up, Craig and his parents moved around while his father became a doctor. From the time Craig was 6 months old until he was 5 ½, they lived in Madison, WI.

They also spent time in Boston, MA; Saint Louis, MO; Staten Island NY; Baltimore MD; and Atlanta, GA.

Craig was also the oldest of his cousins. He enjoyed time with them and multiple aunts and uncles.

He had a close relationship with his uncle Richard before Richard passed when Craig was in his twenties. Richard would take Craig for flights in his airplane and fishing trips.

Craig met Sara Dietrich in Boston and they married on 6.21.1981. They had two daughters: Alana Camenga (fiancé Scott Eshbach) and Mora Camenga (husband Seth Pillsbury; children Vera and Milo).

They moved to Maine before Mora’s birth and Craig spent most of his adult life living in Maine, where his mother was from.

After Craig’s parents parted ways, Craig gained a stepfather, Bob Rowe of Belgrade, in 1987. The family would visit Mary and Bob for holidays and other get-togethers. Mary passed in 2007 and Bob passed in 2025. They were both beloved by the family.

After Craig and Sara parted ways, Craig met Beth Cushman Johnston.

They had a son, Ian Camenga and Craig gained stepchildren (Elinor, Jacob and Nathan).

They were together for 14 years.

He spent most of his Maine years residing in Biddeford/Saco and the Belgrade, Litchfield and Augusta areas.

Craig was an enthusiastic grandfather to Vera Camenga and Milo Pillsbury. He read to them and took them to playgrounds when he visited.

Craig worked mostly as a Real estate Appraiser (in which he enjoyed traveling and exploring properties) and as a Psych Technician (in which he found meaning helping people).

He was an avid photographer and used his creative eye to capture beauty around him.

He spent some time working in photography labs in earlier years.

He enjoyed soccer and loved the beach.

Craig loved music, concerts and people.

He had a love of the Caribbean that began when he visited as a child.

He spent his final winter in Puerto Rico, before returning to Maine.

He also loved the Mount Desert Island/ Acadia area. He visited in his teen years with his family and explored the area on a motorcycle.

He brought his children there over the years.

Craig was passionate about helping people and loved deeply.

The celebration of life service will be held on Friday July 24th at the Old South Church in Belgrade. Doors open at 11 AM and the service is set for 12 PM.
