SOMERVILLE - Craig Abraham Ladd, 60, of Somerville, Maine, died June 25, 2007 at Country Manor in Coopers Mills. He was born March 14, 1947 in Stratton, Vermont the son of Paul R. Ladd, Jr. and Eva Hegemann Ladd. He lived many years in Wickford, Rhode Island where he ran a Volkswagen repair business. He was an inventor, sailor, farmer, and multi-talented character. Craig moved his family to Maine after finding the farm of his dreams on which to raise his children. Craig worked for Crowe Rope fabricating and repairing machines until his illness forced him to retire. He is remembered by his friends and family for the tales he spun and the many random acts of kindness he performed. Craig was predeceased by his father. He is survived by his wife, Catherine, and his children, Hannah, Marrion, Isaac and Molly Ladd, Emma Oster and Jennifer Ladd-Hepburn and her son, Jacob. Craig is also survived by four brothers and five sisters. A memorial service will be held at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, One Church Street, Augusta, Maine on Saturday at 11:00am. Family and friends are invited to Craig?s home on the Colby Road in Somerville following the service to inter his ashes and swap stories in celebration of his life.
