West Gardiner ~ Cynthia E. Grady, 68, of Adams Lane, died Thursday, November 3, 2016 at the Alfond Center for Health. She was born in Gardiner on November 25, 1947, the daughter of Fenrick and Virginia (Cunningham) Allen. Cynthia graduated from Erskine Academy in 1965 and attended the University of Maine at Augusta. She had worked as a nurse’s aide and Drug and Alcohol Rehab Tech at the Veterans Administration Hospital for 28 years, retiring in 1997. She later worked part time for Home Care of Maine in Farmingdale. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, reading and cooking. Cynthia was a member of Goodwill Circle in Chelsea and attended the Advent Christian Church, also in Chelsea. She was predeceased by her parents, a son Steve Healey, and three brothers, Fenrick Allen Jr., David Allen and Ronald Allen. She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Dale Grady of West Gardiner; two sons, William Grady and his wife Veronica of West Gardiner, and John Healey of Seabrook, NH; a daughter Tricia Eldridge and her husband Corey of West Gardiner; two sisters, Sharon Boynton of Jefferson and Karen Edwards of Chelsea; 12 grandchildren, Tyler, Brody, Jennifer, Evan, Emily, Kayleigh, Justin, Jared, Tricia, John, Chad and Jessica. Two great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. She is also survived by her forever best friend and partner in crime, Kelly Jackson-Guerrette. Visiting will be held on Tuesday, November 8, from 10am to 12 noon at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, One Church St., Augusta, followed by a celebration of life at Noon. Burial will be at a later date in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta. There will be a gathering of family and friends immediately following the service at Karen’s home at 156 Wellman Road, Chelsea. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer, P.O. Box 828, Waterville 04903-0828 or to the Allen Family Scholarship Fund, c/o Jessica Norton, 142 Griffin Road, Windsor 04363.
