Obituary

WINTHROP - Dale Alan Fortier, 46, died unexpectedly at home on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008. He was born in Augusta on March 25, 1962, the son of Eugene Joseph Fortier Jr. and Mary (Kennedy) Fortier. Dale graduated from Winthrop High School, class of 1980, before enlisting and serving his country in the Air Force. Upon his discharge from the service, Dale studied nursing and went into the field of home health care, which is where he remained until the present. Dale loved ice fishing, especially on Moosehead Lake at the family camp in Rockwood, often doing so with his brother-in-law and two nephews. He also enjoyed bowling over the years and was an avid Celtics, Red Sox and Patriots fan his whole life. He was predeceased by his father. He is survived by his mother, Mary K. Fortier, of Winthrop; his brother, Eugene Joseph Fortier III, of Washington; his sister, Marylu Minor and her husband, Stephen, of Winthrop; and his two nephews, Christopher and Stephen Minor, of Winthrop. A memorial celebration of Dale's life will be held graveside at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 19, at Glenside Cemetery, Turkey Lane, Winthrop. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dale's memory may be made to the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care, P.O. Box 828, Waterville, ME 04903-0828.
